The surroundings

Axarquía is a region in the province of Andalusia, Torrox-Costa is centrally located on the coast called Costa del Sol.

On the coast, the Axarquía region is characterised by cliffs and bays, with headlands and watchtowers, beaches and gardens, tradition and tourism.

Torrox-Costa is a coastal town with an long boulevard and many different restaurants. The place is very accessible because it is completely flat. On the beach you will find the many so-called Chiringuito’s, or Spanish restaurants specializing in fresh fish dishes. Next to the lighthouse is the dog beach ‘ Playa Canina ‘, on this beach it is allowed to take dogs and let them swim in the sea.

Torrox-Pueblo is located a few kilometres away, it is an authentic Spanish village with many white houses typical of this region. In the village square you can enjoy the different types of tapas or a café con leche between the locals.

Nerja is known for its beautiful views from the Balcón de Europa and the wonderful Plaza de España. Just outside the centre are the famous caves, the Cueva de Nerja. 

Frigiliana is often referred as one of the most beautiful white mountain villages in Andalusia. It is a place with many narrow, steep streets. Once you have climbed all the streets you can enjoy a breathtaking view! From Frigiliana you can start beautiful walking routes through the Sierra de Tejeda Almijara y Alhama Natural Park.

In Torre del Mar is a large shopping centre, El Ingenio. Torre del Mar also has a 4 kilometer long promenade with bicycle paths and many restaurants. It is a nice place that is worth a visit.

Another beautiful village is Cómpeta, which is known for its gastronomy and the many local products of good quality. Various art shop and studios are also available here.  In the surroundings are many hiking trails and you can enjoy the mountains and beautiful views.

Málaga is 45 km away. Málaga has everything to make it a wonderful day out. The port is definitly worth a visit, as well as the old town centre and the Picasso Museum. You can shop till you drop with all the shops and boutiques.

A little more inland in you can find GranadaBook in advance tickets to visit the famous Alhambra.

Córdoba is known for the famous Mezquita Cathedral, and the beautiful Old town centre.

The bus connections are very good. The bus stops opposite MiluCar on the coastal road. Buses to Malaga and Granada leave from the bus station in Torrox-Costa. The Alsa site lists the current prices, bus schedules and connections
