La Axarquía is a region in the province of Andalusia, Torrox-Costa is centrally located on the Costa del Sol.
On the coast, the Axarquia region is characterised by cliffs and bays, with Farellones and watchtowers, beaches and gardens, tradition and tourism.
Surroundings Camper Area
Torrox-Costa is a coastal town with a long promenade and many different restaurants. The place is very accessible because it is completely flat. On the beach you will find many beach bars, restaurants specialised in fresh fish dishes. Next to the lighthouse you will find the dog beach ‘Playa Canina’, on this beach dogs are allowed to walk loose and swim in the sea.
Torrox-Pueblo is only a few kilometres away, it is an authentic Spanish village with many white houses typical of this region. In the Plaza de la Constitución you can enjoy different types of tapas or a café con leche among the locals.
Nerja is known for its beautiful views from the Balcón de Europa and the adjoining Plaza de España. On the outskirts of the centre you will find the famous caves, the Nerja Caves.
Frigiliana often referred to as one of the most beautiful white mountain villages in Andalusia. It is a place with many narrow streets. Once you have climbed all the streets you can enjoy a breathtaking view! From Frigiliana you start beautiful walking routes along the Sierra de Tejeda Almijara y Alhama Natural Park.
In Torre del mar there is a large shopping centre, the Ingenio. Torre del Mar also has a 4 kilometre long promenade with cycle paths and many restaurants. It is a nice place worth a visit.
Another beautiful town is Cómpeta, which is known for its gastronomy and the many good quality local products. There are also several art workshops available here. In the surrounding area there are many hiking trails and you can enjoy the mountainous surroundings.
Malaga is 45 kilometres away. Malaga has everything to offer for a wonderful day out. The port is well worth a visit, as well as the historic centre and the Picasso Museum.
A little further inland you can find Granada. Book advance tickets to visit the famous Alhambra.
Cordoba is known for the famous Cathedral Mosque, and the beautiful old city centre.
Bus connections are very good. The bus stops in front of MiluCar on the coastal road. Buses to Malaga and Granada leave from Torrox-Costa bus station. On site ALSA you will find list of current prices, bus schedules and connections
